Telehandler Operator Training Edmonton | Touchback Safety

Course Overview

Our Telehandler Operator Training course runs 4 to 6 hours. Upon successful completion, we issue a certificate that is valid for 3 years.

The Telehandler is also known as a Zoomboom. Because it is a versatile and powerful piece of equipment, proper training is essential for safe operation on any worksite.

Entry Requirements

Participants must hold a valid Driver’s License to register for this course. However, if you do not have a valid Driver’s License, you can show proof of a previous Telehandler or Forklift Operator ticket that is valid within the last 2 years.

Please bring the appropriate documentation on the day of your course.

Blended Learning — Coming Soon

We are bringing Blended Learning to this course soon. Blended learning combines online theory with hands-on practical training. Therefore, it will be ideal for workers who already have prior experience operating telehandlers.

However, new workers will benefit more from our full Instructor Led course. So if your team is new to telehandler operation, we recommend the instructor led option.

What This Course Covers

Our Telehandler Operator Training combines formal instruction with hands-on practical training under a competent, experienced trainer. Because safe telehandler operation is critical on busy worksites, we cover everything operators need to know:

  • WH&S Regulation requirements and how they apply to telehandler operation
  • Purpose, function, and basic concepts of telehandler operation
  • Types and purposes of different decals associated with telehandlers
  • Control functions for a specific telehandler model
  • Telehandler steering and manoeuvrability
  • Visibility assessment to ensure safe operation at all times
  • Machine capacity and stability assessment for various load types
  • Pre-use machine inspection procedures
  • Surface condition identification for safe operation
  • Manipulating, stacking, and unstacking loads safely
  • Identifying hazardous locations on the worksite
  • Safe operation on ramps and other sloped surfaces

Train the Trainer Program Available

We also offer a Train the Trainer program for this course. So if your organization wants to build internal telehandler training capacity, we can help your team develop the expertise and consistency to train others effectively.
