Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) are regulated work-at-height equipment under OHS legislation. Most incidents are preventable when legal duties, manufacturer instructions, and safe work practices are followed.

✅ DO
• Operate MEWPs only if trained, competent, and authorized (as required by OHS regulations)
• Complete pre-use inspections before every shift
• Assess ground conditions, overhead hazards, and weather before operation

❌ DON’T
• Operate without training or outside your scope of competency
• Stand on guardrails or use makeshift height gains
• Override or disable safety devices
• Operate in high winds or adverse weather conditions

Why it matters:
OHS legislation requires employers and workers to control fall risks so far as reasonably practicable. Failure to follow MEWP requirements can lead to serious injury, fatalities, and regulatory action.

Safety at height is not optional. It’s a legal obligation.
